Emma CaulfieldTerm of Office 12/06/18 - 12/06/22 Chair of Governors
Emma Caulfield is presently Chair of Governors at Parrs Wood High School. She has worked in primary education for 25 years as a middle and senior leader. She was a primary school teacher & middle leader for eight years and worked as School Improvement Officer for Manchester City Council for five years (Primary English and Intensifying Support Programme). She has also held the roles of School Safeguarding Lead and of Primary English Lead for MCC. She works widely as a Key Stage 1 moderator. Emma was a primary school governor for five years including two years as Chair, during which time the school was graded ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. She holds the NPQH qualification and an MA in Education· For the last seven years Emma has been a primary literacy consultant and is a published author on literacy related matters in primary education.

Mr Midgley has been teaching History since 2001 and has been at Parrs Wood since 2006. He has taught a wide range of students from a variety of backgrounds and contexts in his years teaching. Mr Midgley is currently the head of History and Ancient History at Parrs Wood, which is one of only two state schools in the North West to deliver Ancient History. He has had significant experience of Ofsted inspections as both a class room teacher and governor and has been with Parrs Wood through its journey of improvement. Additionally, Mr Midgley has worked as an examiner, undertaken educational projects for the Learning and Skills Development Agency, developed interactive digital lessons ideas for the DfE and was part of team that created the “Think History” series of text books for Heinemann Publishing. Mr Midgley is also a member of the Joint Association of Classical Teachers and the Historical Association and is currently working with Manchester Museums to develop curriculum links between secondary education and Museums in the region. He has been a staff governor since the disbanding of the Parrs Wood IEB.
